In 2015, in the context of the COP21, Finergreen partnered with Agence des Micro Projets, an association supported by l’Agence Française de Développement, to launch the Renewable Energy Prize sponsored by Bertrand Piccard, to support the best humanitarian micro-projects that use renewable energies as a lever for development and improvement of the living conditions of vulnerable people in developing countries.
In 5 years, thanks to the involvement of Synergie Solaire Foundation, first endowment fund of the French solar sector, in the project, the Renewable Energy Prize has become an unmissable event for all small NGOs and associations worldwide wishing to support populations in their development process while actively working for the energy transition.
Indeed, the projects we study and choose to support are always using the set-up of affordable and clean energy to meet 11 out of 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
As of today, the Renewable Energy Prizes rewarded 50 projects in 22 different countries, for a total of 520 000 €.
In 2019, Finergreen committed deeper by organizing a fundraising event: The “Foot Solaire”. This soccer tournament gathered 45 teams from the French solar sector that helped raising 13 500 € for a humanitarian solar project in Madagascar.
In September 2018, we had the opportunity to go to Senegal to visit some of the projects we have supported in the last 5 years and meet the people who benefit from the positive economic, health and environmental effects of our support.
